The New York Times is running an incredible series on the US Olympic athletes who went to London for the 1948 Austerity Games. MARIA CERRA Age: 94 Sport: Fencing Cerra, now Maria Tishman, tied for second in the individual foil competition, but the tiebreaker rules left her in fourth place. “I fence that one bout that would have made me the champion.
